A small, short (22 pages) informal instruction book on sketching from one of the great masters of both prose and pictures in the last century, Mervyn Peake - best-known for "Titus Groan", first published in the same year as this volume. Gentle but firm instructions, beautifully poetic yet readily comprehensible, are accompanied by more than a dozen sketches, most of male or female faces, or full-body nudes. If you love Peake's art, this is a must; unfortunately it looks as if the first edition (1946) may have been the only one. I'm not sure where I got mine - you may be able to get hold of it with some diligence if you don't feel like spending a lot of money on it.Product details
